The hidden middle market in maternal nutrition
The poorest mothers receive free fortified porridge at health centres. Wealthy families buy imported brands at Kigali supermarkets for RWF 4,000 to 6,000 per kilo. Working peri-urban mothers in towns like Rwamagana, earning a regular wage, have no good option in between. The gap is not awareness. It is price, trust and access.

We launched with one SKU on purpose. Adding snacks and drinks before the porridge has proven itself is how small food businesses overextend and fail. Product line extension comes in Year 2.

Pick up at a pharmacy or clinic, or buy through your ibimina
Collect your 500g pack at a partner pharmacy or private clinic in Rwamagana town. Women's savings groups (ibimina) get a 10% discount on group orders.

Pay with MTN MoMo
Approve the payment on your phone. Each pack is sealed, batch-coded, and printed with its milling date and aflatoxin test reference.
What mothers in Rwamagana told us
16 of 20 pregnant and breastfeeding mothers in our Rwamagana sensory test said they would pay RWF 1,500 for the product if it were RSB-certified and locally produced. Trust and traceability ranked over price alone.

Who we are
Built by a nutrition student, for the mothers she trained with
I am Alice Muhimpundu, a final-year Nutrition and Dietetics student at the University of Rwanda, graduating in 2026. My supervised clinical practice was at Rwamagana Provincial Hospital's nutrition unit, counselling pregnant and breastfeeding women. Nutrae is the direct application of that training: formulated against WHO maternal nutrition guidance, refined through sensory testing in Rwamagana, and reviewed by senior advisors.
I am not yet a registered dietitian, and I am honest about it. That is why Nutrae has a registered dietitian advisor (7 years' experience in maternal nutrition) and a food safety consultant on the team. This is the team a serious nutrition product needs.

We work with NGOs running maternal nutrition programs, private clinic chains, school feeding partners, and women-led cooperatives in Eastern Province. Institutional pricing is RWF 1,200 per 500g pack with monthly recurring volume.
We respect Ministry of Health policy. Community Health Workers are a referral network, not a paid sales channel.
